A patient at Oregon Health &     Science University, with epilepsy and compulsive disorder, is the first one in the world to reveal controlled symptomatology 4 years after brain implant surgery, that stimulates the 2 responsible brain regions .
The neurosurgeon, Ahmed Raslan, M.D., professor at OHSU School of Medicine, adapted the original device, with the primary purpose of controlling the epilepsy seizures, to expand in the nucleus accumbens - the area of the brain involved in motivation and action, including compulsive behavior.
